"Michelle Obama has yet to RSVP for next month’s Heart Truth: Red Dress Collection fashion show at Bryant Park, but the roster of celebrity models is shaping up. Estelle, Felicity Huffman, Kim Kardashian, Robin Roberts and Kristin Chenoweth are planning to hit the catwalk wearing red dresses to help raise awareness about the risk of heart disease. Taking a turn from tradition, the show will be held at night for the first time — Feb. 11 at 7 p.m." (wwd.com)

WWD has written a fashion scoop article on the Red Dress Collection fashion show! Community involvement and other charitable events are becoming more important than ever. So we all know that Spring collections have made way into clothing stores now! The very common trend of the "military look" has been made evident in many clothing collections... one way to make your trendy military look unique is try to shop for a more dressed up sexy military look. Instead of going for the box-cut military jacket or button up, try looking for a blazer that has panels around the center of your mid section. This can create a more curved and sharper look. Pair the blazer with a skirt or a textured/shiny pair of leggings and ACCESSORIZE...and Voila a fresh new military look!

Check out the article "Prada's New Menswear Collection Contains Disturbing Harvard References" by Amy Odell

The Fall 2010 Menswear collection for Prada has just emerged. Preppy looks were integrated into the fashion world with these Menswear fashion show! Cropped-fitted sweaters were worn with dress shirts underneath it. The whole idea of this look was to bring a simple yet new sophisticated look to the world of "preps." Menswear sales was reported to have had a decline of about 10 percent in 2009(nymag.com). Therefore, it was important for designers to produce a collection that could represent many and sell well. Prada had decided to go for the "Harvard-look," which in many cases can be good or bad... do you think Miuccia Prada's choice was the right look for her Fall 2010 Menswear collection?

The Invention of the Bra.

"Would you believe the bra wasn’t patented until 1914? The bra was created by a young New York socialite named Mary Phelps who grew weary of having her camisole show when she wore a lace blouse. Using handkerchiefs, she designed the first rudimentary bra which she eventually had patented in 1914. Women everywhere loved Mary’s new design and the first bra took off in a big way. It was later that a woman named Ida Rosenthal started designing bras with different cup sizes." -(posted on www.azteenmagazine.com)

For Fall 2010...watch out for knit wear and other pieces that represent "worn down" chic! tattered clothing and stone washes are huge for this coming fall season! With the Fall collections revealing themselves, many designers are choosing to stray away from the "common thought" and are going with their own personal view. Various clothing displayed for the Fall used rich textures, tailored black/gray clothing, or modern looking clothing.

Ever wonder how people find unique clothes that NO one else wear?? Or do you have an upcoming event that you are planning to look amazing and "exclusive" at?? Well there are definitely some tips you can go by to ensure that you utilize all of your shopping options!

1) RESEARCH! There are many fashion magazines and sites you can go on to preview stylish clothing. By doing this, you are eliminating "the common look" and branching out! Remember, some fashion show previews that you may look at can be a little extreme! But fashion shows are supposed to spark interest and "themes" in buyers/viewers' mind! Fashion shows will definitely get the creative juices flowing! Even if you do not like the whole outfit, study sections of the outfit that you may like! ie. a beaded collar....these sections can be incorporated into your outfit by getting a seamstress to add on things to your garment!

2)USE THE SOURCES! so...magazine sites, such as Elle.com, actually have parts on their website where they help you find where garments are located via internet or store! They are like your own digital personal shopper!! It's a great advantage to use these media outlets... that way you're not running around all over the place searching for something you may never find!

3)EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS! Don't just go to the mall!! The mall is great for quick pick-ups and other little accessories you may need to get...but try searching the internet for boutiques around your area that you can visit...you'll be surprised at what you may find, and they usually only carry clothing in one size each!

4)ON A BUDGET?? then try vintage and "barely worn" stores... even if you may not see EXACTLY what you may want, you can always fix or change it! ie. an all sequined long old dress with shoulder pads...get it cut to make it short!(and you can keep the extra fabric to make a skirt!)

Well hope this helps some of you that want to step out of the "norm"...remember to be daring and try something new, just make sure you are still YOU!

In the WWD December 31, 2009 paper, there was a "Man Power: Top men's luxury brands in China." article written by Suzanne Blecher

This article said that the Luxury Institute ranked the leading men's brands in China for 2009. The list was ranked as: Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Dior Homme, Paul Smith, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Alexander Mcqueen, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Brooks Brothers.

Any surprisingly missing designers?? Yup! Designers such as Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs had missed the cut! How would you rate this top ten men's luxury brands list? Do you agree that these designers beat out Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs?? Based on quality, creativeness, and exclusivity what do YOU think?

ARTICLE: Can eco-friendly fashion can be just as stylish?- Yahoo! News
by Jenny Barchfield, Associated Press Writer

So the Style Session Firm came across this article that was written on December 9, 2009! Going "green" has been a recent topic that many discuss and debate... "how are we going to change the world's environmental issues and concerns??" It's interesting to see how the fashion industry could potentially play a role in this positive transformation! Using recycled agriculture, industrial waste, and organic materials to create clothing, these choices were shown at a run way show held at Copenhagen Opera House in Danish. The use of these different materials seem to be eye catching to many. How do you feel about using recycled and organic materials? If the fashion industry started transforming into more "green"-wear, what type of response from the public do you think will occur? Would going more green in the fashion industry be effective?

Hello "Fashionistas" and "Fashionistos"!
The thought of the day is: Spontaneity leads to Creativity

Many designers, stylists, fashion editors, and etc. are creative in their own way. So how do they come up with these extreme ideas for brand management?? Well... to be known and to be original, one must be daring enough to try new things. Whether it's a miss or a hit! Don't be afraid to go to the limits with things! It may actually work! Take Lady GaGa for instance, she has a unique fashionable flare! At times it seems extreme to some people, but it actually WORKS for her. Her undeniably one-of-a-kind style makes many study her! They want to see what she will be wearing next! Whether you agree with what she wears or not, the whole point is that she's making her mark within the fashion industry. Who doesn't want to be remember at some point of time in life?? Now, it's not necessary to go to the top notch extreme with your wardrobe, if that is not who you truly are. But it is important, to not shy away from things you may possible want to try. The whole message of this blog is to make many understand that being an individual, even when people are looking at you from another view, may not be so bad after all! Stay true to your style, but do not limit your opportunities to explore! So tomorrow morning be daring in what you pull out your wardrobe, try something new! Because spontaneity leads to creativity and it can bring out the uniqueness in you!
